SCL programs reduce barriers for the Somali community in Louisville, and others who may benefit from our culturally-adapted approach. 2025 highlights include: We are currently serving 65 students in Mentors and Meals, an after-school program offering homework help, enrichment activities, and a summer program in collaboration with JCPS. SCL Mental Health Program has provided workshops and support to 2,350 participants. Our Drug Prevention Program has led workshops for 745 youth and 240 adults, provided Narcan overdose prevention training, and distributed 550 Narcan kits. Our innovative new Elevate Vocational Training program (in partnership with Catholic Charities) helps New Americans gain hands-on warehouse training and English language skills and connects them with employers; 125 people have completed the intensive four-week program so far. SCL also provides resume and job application assistance and coordinates job fairs.
