KNOXVILLE BOTANICAL GARDENS AND ARBORETUM (KBGA) IS A 44-ACRE PUBLIC GARDEN LOCATED ON THE REMARKABLE LANDSCAPE OF THE HISTORIC HOWELL NURSERIES. KBGA IS LOCATED MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE IN THE MIDST OF A HISTORIC URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD. KGBA IS DEVELOPING THE SITE AS A REGIONAL ATTRACTION, WHICH WILL HELP SUPPORT THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF DOWNTOWN AND SPUR THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF EAST KNOXVILLE. THE GROUNDS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, FREE OF CHARGE, EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. WE ESTIMATE A TOTAL OF 32,000 VISITORS DURING 2023, OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 25% ARE OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS. KGBA SUPPORTS LOCAL AND NON-PROFIT AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO MEETING ROOMS ON THE PROPERY AND HAS NUMEROUS EVENTS DESIGNED TO BENEFIT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, INCLUDING A FREE FAMILY FESTIVAL EACH FALL. KGBA ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO GROUPS AND OUTREACH INTO THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM AND THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE. KGBA ALSO PRESERVES THE SISTORIC PLANS AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE SITE, INCLUDING RARE SPECIMENS OF TREES AND UNIQUE STONE BUILDINGS. KGBA ALSO FEATURES A COMMUNITY GARDEN.
