Literacy AmeriCorps recruits, trains, and supervises recent college graduates from across the United States who commit a year of service tutoring, mentoring, and teaching throughout Palm Beach County. Their impact includes:- 432 adult learners received support in reading, English language acquisition, and employability skills.- 1,143 at-risk youth were coached, tutored, and mentored to promote academic achievement.- 160 children received tutoring, literacy enrichment, or homework assistance to strengthen their reading skills.

The Glades Family Education Program provides comprehensive literacy instruction to adults and their preschool-aged children living in the rural western communities of Palm Beach County. This two generation model strengthens family literacy and supports longterm educational success.- A total of 87 adults and 19 preschool children participated in the program.- An additional 30 children were served through quarterly family literacy nights.- 82% of adult students who completed both pre and postassessments made significant gains in one or more skill areas, including reading, listening, and speaking.- 100% of preschool-aged children in the program demonstrated improvement in language, cognitive development, and early reading skills.
