Florida Family Child Care Home Association had four areas of focus for the fiscal year. FFCCHA 32nd annual state conference, Enhancing Our Mindsin 2024, held from June 26-30, 2024. The conference brought together family child care providers from across the state for five days of learning, networking, and inspiration. To make the conference accessible to as many providers as possible, we offered 43 pre-conference scholarships and 108 conference volunteer scholarships. The main conference held many opportunities for growth and learning; 59 workshop sessions covering a wide range of topics for every age group, from infants to preschoolers; Business-focused sessions to help providers run successful enterprises; Self-care workshops to support provider well-being; A Spanish language track, including a special Concilio Latino session; 4 general sessions featuring 6 inspiring keynote speakers; An all-conference luncheon on Friday with updates from state and national family child care leaders; Recognition of 34 NAFCC Accredited and FL Gold Seal providers We granted 43 credential scholarships from the National Association of Family Child Care toward the Florida Gold Seal; 12 NAFCC Accreditation Update scholarships; 1 NAFCC New Accreditation scholarships; 17 NAFCC Re-Accreditation scholarships; 10 NAFCC Accreditation QAT/Quality Ambassador scholarships; 3 NAFCC Accreditation Self-Study Hosted 8 statewide in-service trainings both in person and virtual, for a total of 27 hours, for 351 attendees and awarded 272 registration scholarships: 1. September 9, 2023: (In-person) 6 hours Strengthening and Growing Your Association Presenter: Patricia Dischler. The attendees learned about how to write OKRs - Objectives & Key Results for specific FFCCHA projects based on the FFCCHA Objectives & Strategic Plan. They reviewed the FFCCHA Hub Implementation Plan, Support Matrix, and Theory of Change to inform and help them with making decisions and identifying next steps to move FFCCHA into a strong position for growth and impact on the family child care community. 2. October 5, 2023 (Virtual) 2 hours How to Retire from Family Child Care - Personal and Business Financial Planning Presenters: Tillie Allison and Lynne Kimmich. Participants found out ways to protect and grow their business and how to protect their personal assets, including saving & investing for both. They learned about kinds of business structures and developing a business continuation plan and exit strategy and planning for retirement including long-term care, estate planning, trusts and wills. 3. November 4, 2023-LEADERSHIP SUMMIT: (In person) 8 hours. Our Annual Leadership Summit, Empowering Leaders, Strengthening Associations, It was a day packed with learning, networking, and inspiration for our FFCCHA leaders. The summit started with four-hour presentation by our keynote by FFCCHA President Arleen Lambert, M.Ed. Arleen focused on how we can build stronger state and local chapter associations through smart planning. She introduced members to Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), a helpful tool for setting goals and measuring our progress. In the afternoon, we dove into the world of Professional Development Opportunities, including the FFCCHA Certified Mentor program, NAFCC Accreditation, NAFCC Quality Accreditation Training (QAT), Second Helping, Latino Council, In-service training, and our annual Pre-conference and Conference events. 4. January 11, 2024 (Virtual) 2 hours 6 Key Components Needed as a Home-Based Entrepreneur and Educator Presenter: Jennifer Biles. The attendees were taught ways to run their child care business more efficiently and effectively by learning about: Creating Core Values, Marketing Techniques, Measuring Data, Effective Problem Solving, and Developing Processes. 5. February 3, 2024: (Virtual) 2 hours Essential Self-Care Skills for Caregivers: Overcome Overwhelm and Increase Your Joy Presenter: Dawn James. The attendees learned practical ways to reset their nervous system, reduce symptoms of stress, increase energy and experience greater joy in life. They discovered the science behind self-care and how to easily incorporate it into daily life. They learned how to transform from feeling overwhelmed to experiencing joy through essential self-care skills. 6. March 2, 2024: (Virtual) 2 hours Navigating the ABCs of Finances and Tax Preparations in FCC Presenter: Lorrie Brinson, CPA, MBA/PA. Family child care educators gained insights into Schedule C deductions for their FCC home business, specifically focusing on Profit & Loss statements. They explored the intricacies of managing other business expenses effectively and the importance of proper tracking, bookkeeping, and sound record-keeping practices. 7. April 27, 2024: (In-person) 3 hours Creating Magic: Leadership Building for FCC Associations Presenter: Patricia Dischler The FFCCHA leaders on their board and within their membership gained an understanding of how each can support the growth of the organization, unlocking the magical potential of FFCCHA. It was an interactive session on building leadership skills including building relationships, clear communication and uncovering the creative ideas of others. They learned about the aspirations of FFCCHA and how to use the strategies to help FFCCHA achieve results. Attendees were inspired and strengthened to become the type of leader FFCCHA needs to make a huge impact on family child care in Florida. 8. August 3, 2024: (in-person) 2 hours Conflict Resolution and How to Have Tough Conversations Presenter: Angela Chowning, Quality Early Education System (QEES). The workshop provided Family Child Care educators with valuable insights into managing workplace conflicts. Participants learned to identify root causes of daily operational conflicts and effective resolution strategies. The training helped educators recognize their personal triggers and develop greater empathy for others. They also learned preventative measures, such as creating clear policies, and gained skills for handling difficult conversations when needed. FFCCHA disseminated information by developing, design, publishing, printing and mailing resources and displays: 4,244 newsletters: 4 quarterly issues of The Grapevine, mailed 4,044 issues; 5,000 4-pg color Enhancing Our Mindsin 2024 Conference brochures, mailed 2,405; 325 28-page color Enhancing Our Mindsin 2024 Conference Program Books; 9,511 total copies of printed materials.
