In 2020,the goal of the Caribbean Heart Menders Association was to engage in education missions to further strengthen the clinical skills and competence of the pediatric critical care nurses at Bustamante Hospital for Children through offering of training programs in pediatric cardiac care. In preparation for this, teleconferences were convened between Caribbean Heart Menders training officers, the organizations president, and officials at that overseas facility. However, volunteerism was adversely impacted by the Novel Corona 19 Virus which prevented execution of overseas missions or local outreach activities. Furthermore, need for social distancing adversely affected fundraisers efforts for the organization. was identified as a critical step to realize the goal ofproviding resources to enable performing a minimum of 200 open heart surgeries in 2020. Cost of travel wasLocally, nurses within the organization participated in free blood pressure screening for residents within our geographical area.
