THE S. D. SPADY HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1926 BY SOLOMON D. SPADY AND HIS WIFE. MR. SPADY WAS A PROMINENT AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADER OF DELRAY BEACH. THE HOUSE WAS OPENED TO THE PUBLIC IN JULY 2001 AS THE S.D. SPADY CULTURAL ARTS MUSEUM. THE MUSEUM PROVIDES A SITE TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, DISPLAY, AND STORE DATA AND MATERIALS THAT PERTAIN TO THE HISTORY OF DELRAY BEACH AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS IT RELATES TO AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE AND CULTURE. IT ALSO PROMOTES INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE AMONG ALL PEOPLE, AND HELPS TO IMPROVE UNDERSTANDING, RACIAL HARMONY, AND RESPECT FOR ALL. THE SPADY MUSEUM HOSTS FOUR TRAVELING EXHIBITS PER YEAR.
