People who need a decent place to live build safe, affordable homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Butte County. Together, we build homes that are modestly sized, large enough for each household's needs and small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable. Future homeowners, volunteers and Habitat staff build alongside one another, using efficient building methods, modest house sizes, donated construction materials and appliances, and affordable financing to help make homeownership possible for people facing barriers to safe, decent and affordable housing. Affordable homeownership helps create the stability and opportunity people need to build independence, confidence and the life they choose. Strong, stable homes are foundational to child development and growth. A safe, affordable home also helps homeowners plan for the future, invest in educational opportunities, strengthen job opportunities and build long-term financial independence. During fiscal year 2025, Habitat for Humanity of Butte County served more than 26 people through its homeownership program and has served 252 people since its inception.
