The Youth Homes Auxiliary is a group of about 115 volunteers that has served as the longest standing single benefactor of Youth Homes, Inc. (YHI) for over 50 years. The Auxiliary makes grants to YHI to supplement income YHI receives from others. These grants assist the agency in maintaining four homes for foster youth. Grants made by the Auxiliary to YHI in FY 2018-2019 exceeded $166,000! The Auxiliary provides funds to YHI to celebrate birthdays, to provide for holiday gifts, resident entertainment including occasional outings, as well as requested house necessities and individual residents needs. In addition, the Auxiliary supports scholarships to former residents who continue formal study at college or vocational schools. The Auxiliary is also expanding its funding to assist the up to 60 other non-resident clients of YHI, as well as those families interested in adoption. The Youth Homes Auxiliary Thrift Shop sells donated clothing, furniture and other items all for the benefit of the youth participants at YHI.
