Community advocacy and education via know your rights presentations and virtual events are provided at no cost to the Muslim community throughout the state of Washington. By making sure the community members are educated on their rights as well as issues of Islamophobia, CAIR WA hopes to create an empowered network of Muslim families, youth, children, and elders who use their voices to combat anti-Muslim hate. Communications and media work to ensure an accurate representation of Muslims in mainstream media that is both accurate and culturally sensitive. In 2024 we had 98 media mentions, up in both number and scope from previous years. We also have an internship program through which we mentored 10 predominately Muslim young people interested in pursuing careers in civil rights and advocacy. In 2024 we also held an advocacy day that involved over 60 community members from 21 legislative districts meeting with their representatives. The event included morning sessions at which we educated our community on civic engagement, policy, and advocacy.
