In 2023, Tulsa SPCAs focus was on collaboration, re-engagement and continued growth. The Tulsa SPCA remains steadfast in our mission to improve the lives of dogs and cats, and their human companions. The way in which we improve those lives is what best tells our story:*In 2023, we performed 6,321 spay/neuter surgeries - this number of surgeries prevented tens of thousands of unwanted births in one year alone. *Through both our on-site and mobile clinics, we provided 23,423 low-cost vaccines to residents (primarily) in the greater Tulsa area these vaccines ensure our citizens beloved pets are healthy and well taken care of. Additionally, our efforts to make quality veterinary care affordable and accessible continued through offering additional services such as preventative care appointments, heartworm treatments, dental care, orthopedic surgeries and mass removals.*Our intake and placement program remained busy this year, providing food, shelter, medical care and enrichment for 1,406 animals until they took the next step into their fur-ever home.*No one ever wants to lose their pet, so to increase the likelihood of reuniting lost pets with their families, the Tulsa SPCA provided 4,164 microchips in 2023.*Unfortunately, sometimes before we get to the joyous part of finding fur-ever homes we are called to assist in cases of cruelty and neglect. But thankfully, we are here to ensure pets across Green Country are safe. Our organization investigated 1,009 cruelty cases throughout 2023.*And last but not least, a fed pet is a happy and healthy pet. During this time of economic struggle and job instability, we were able to provide 27,725 pounds of dog and cat food to our neighbors in need. While much of the work mentioned above is performed by our dedicated and passionate staff, we couldnt do what we do without our incredible volunteers who donate their time and talent to our agency. In 2023, we had 283 active volunteers who gave 21,037 hours to our various programs. That is equivalent to 10 (ten) full-time employee and equates to $668,976 in value! Additionally, the work we do is only possible because of the financial generosity of our supporters. The Tulsa SPCA is not affiliated with any national organizations, nor do we receive any government funding. All of the work we do is a reliant on the private donations made directly to our organization. This work, although often difficult both physically and emotionally, is so incredibly meaningful. The dogs and cats we help want nothing more than to love and be loved. Being able to help make that a reality is a privilege.
