The Alpine Public Library works to build community, encourage literacy, and promote lifelong learning. We endeavor to create and maintain a welcoming facility with relevant and enriching resources that connect our diverse and geographically remote area to the world. The Alpine Public Library envisions a future in which individuals and families are engaged, lifelong learners. To that end, the library provides access to a variety of recreational and educational reading materials, in print and electronic formats, to residents of Brewster County and the entire Big Bend area of West Texas. Services include free use of public computers, free WiFi internet access, hotspots, copies, scans, faxes, and Notary Public. A primary focus is on educational opportunities for all ages. We begin with Toddler Time for infants, International Story Time with an orphanage Northern Mexico, and a variety of S.T.E.A.M. learning activities for older kids. Our adult education opportunities include classes for computer literacy, citizenship, English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency, Spanish, and TOEFL. We currently have about 70 adult education students and the program is growing. 6,400 hours of service were provided by volunteers.
