The objectives of the Houston Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons HSOMS is to promote and advance the art and science of oral and maxillofacial surgery OMS; to encourage continuing education CE and research; to promote unity and harmony among its members; to cooperate with other dental societies and positive collaboration with the Department of OMS at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston; and to enlighten the health professions and the general public in matters relating to oral and maxillofacial surgery. HSOMS currently has 82 members and provides a continuing education symposium annually for oral and maxillofacial surgeons from across the United States. It is one of the largest regional OMS CE meetings that provides surgeons with the most current information relating to the specialty. HSOMS also holds an additional 5 meetings each year for its members for continuing education and HSOMS business as well as a biennial anesthesia symposium.
