LAS MISIONES IS CHARGED WITH PRESERVING AND CONSERVING THE SPANISH COLONIAL MISSION CHURCHES IN SAN ANTONIO. DURING THE 2022-23 FISCAL YEAR LAS MISIONES PERFORMED ITS ANNUAL MAINTENANCE ON EACH OF THE MISSION CHURCHES INCLUDING CONCEPCION, SAN JOSE, SAN JUAN AND SAN FRANCISCO DE LA ESPADA. LAS MISIONES HAS A 10 YEAR PLAN TO PRESERVE EACH OF THE MISSION CHURCHES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 LAS MISIONES FUNDED ANNUAL MAINTENANCE OF THE CHURCHES WHICH INCLUDES INSPECTIONS, STAINING DOORS AND WOODWORK, MINOR ROOF AND ELECTRICAL REPAIRS, AND AIR CONDITIONING MAINTENANCE. OTHER THAN MISSION SAN JOSE NONE OF THE OTHER MISSION CHURCHES HAD LARGE CAPITAL PROJECTS DURING THE TIME PERIOD.

IN 2022-2023 LAS MISIONES PERFORMED SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS TO THE ROOF OF MISSION SAN JOSE BY ADDRESSING SAN JOSE'S MOISTURE INFILTRATION ISSUES CAUSED BY DETERIORATION OF THE ROOF COATINGS AND PREVIOUS REPAIRS. THE EXISTING NAVE ROOF AND DOME STRUCTURES DATED TO THE 1930'S WHILE THE HISTORIC SACRISTY ROOF STRUCTURE IS A SURVIVING 18TH CENTURY COLONIAL FEATURE. THE ROOF COATING SYSTEMS AT THE NAVE, DOME AND SACRISTY WERE AT THE END OF THEIR SERVICEABLE LIFE. REPAIRS COMPLETED IN THE FISCAL YEAR INCLUDED THE REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING ROOF COATING SYSTEMS, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF COATINGS AT ALL PARAPET WALLS, AND REPAIR OF ROOF DRAINS AND CANALS TO IMPROVE ROOF DRAINAGE. MASONRY REPAIR AND REPOINTING WAS DONE ON THE EXTERIOR WALLS AND THE WEST WALL OF THE BELL TOWER WAS STABILIZED.
