Joint project with University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio to support four Lions-named facilities that are staffed by UT Health SA Department of Ophthalmology. Those facilities are: Lions Ophthalmic Pathology Lab, Lions Surgical Skills Lab, Lions Low Vision and Rehabilitation Center, and Lions Eberlin Clinical Imaging Center located at the Texas Diabetes Institute (TDI). Other Projects that are done in conjunction with University Health staff from TDI includes a community diabetes awareness project.

The Lions Mobile Eye Screening Program has been active since 1996. The Lions Mobile Eye Screening Unit screens over 1,500 people per year. The modified bus platform is staffed by Lions volunteers and the program is administered by LSRF staff. The visitors to the Mobile Unit are provided visual acuity, eye pressure, and glaucoma screenings at no cost.
