Community Education: Organized and hosted a well-attended town hall meeting focused on mercury contamination near the Alcoa Superfund site, providing residents with critical environmental health information and empowering the community with knowledge about potential contamination risks in their area. Ongoing Litigation: Continued our legal challenge to the MaxMidstream air permit for the Seahawk Terminal expansion in Calhoun County, demonstrating our persistent advocacy for proper environmental protections. While the appeals court recently ruled against our request for a contested case hearing, we remain committed to holding industrial polluters accountable through all available legal channels. Plastic Pollution Monitoring: Conducted regular monitoring and documentation of plastic pellet (preproduction plastic) discharge into local waterways.
