The mission of Every Child, Inc., is to create a system that ensures children with disabilities grow up in families instead of institutions. All program activities seek to support family life to benefit children with developmental disabilities (ages 0-22) living in, or at risk of placement in, congregate care facilities. The Organization helps families bring their children home whenever possible by connecting them with services and supports. For families whose circumstances prevent them from doing so, the Organization collaborates with a network of disability service provider agencies to recruit and prepare other families, called Support Families, who are paid and supported to care for children with disabilities on a long-term basis. The Organization also collaborates with foster care provider agencies to find Support Families for children in the child protective services system as an alternative to institutional care.
