Early Childhood Collective of Douglas County Inc

ECCos Early Care and Education program funded by Early Childhood Block Grant from the KS Childrens Cabinet and Trust Fund KCCTF was implemented by our partners Positive Bright Start PBS and Brown Like Me Infant Toddler Care LLC BLM. PBSs Childcare Financial Aid Fund enabled 23 families ineligible to receive governmental childcare subsidies or other funded programs such as Head Start or Early Head Start to access quality early learning opportunities. These families were able to apply financial aid vouchers to enroll children in programs that are engaged in data informed continuous quality improvement by participation in PBSs Peer Mentoring group funded by ECCo. ECCo also paid PBS to provide on-site coaching and classroom administration. Brown Like Me Infant Toddler Care received funding through ECCo to provide low cost quality racially sensitive infant toddler care for Black and Brown families served by Doulas of Douglas County which is a program also funded through ECCo.

ECCos Care Coordination & Case Management Program also funded by an ECBG as well as other sources was implemented by Centro Hispano and Doulas of Douglas County. Centro Hispanos staff of three bilingual Care Coordinators with lived experience provide culturally and linguistically accessible services and parenting education to 130 recently arrived Spanish and Indigenous peoples primarily from Southern Mexico and Central America. Doulas of Douglas County provided advocacy emotional and concrete support to 46 BIPOC families through pregnancy birth and post natal adjustments. Positive outcomes for families served by Centro Hispano and the Doulas were measured using Keys to Interactive Parenting Scale and Parent Stress Index. Children were screened using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires.
