Grants to Educators is a program where teachers are awarded grants to fund transformative methods in teaching and learning that will help classrooms serve the students of Plano ISD. Grants up to $2,000 can be given to single applicants or up to $3,500 for multi-campus grants. Grants can be for new technology, after-school programming, materials or student experiences. The Plano ISD Welcome and Enrollment Center is designed to help families navigate the enrollment and transfer process and remove barriers to education. These barriers can come in many forms, so the center connects families to community and state resources, hosts immunization clinics and helps with a variety of immediate needs. Plano ISD families may require assistance with immediate needs due to many factors including: living in transition, hardship, natural disaster, fire, loss of housing, job loss or any life-altering situation that may have occurred. The Welcome and Enrollment Center strives to remove as many of those barriers as possible to not only help support Plano ISD families, but to also ensure every Plano ISD students has access to an excellent education.The 5th Grade Outdoor Science School program is a 3-day / 2-night experience that 5th-grade students, staff, and parent chaperones participate in. Around 3100 students are served each year. The program enhances the district's 5th Grade science curriculum. It provides students with a hands-on, authentic experience, that builds background knowledge as students are introduced to the Earth and Life Science Units in 5th Grade. Camp students are engaged in social, emotional, and academic skills while at camp. This authentic experience challenges students to think in different ways and they begin to see that nature can provide limitless learning opportunities. Scholarships are provided to students whose families would not be able to afford this experience for their student otherwise.
