RUST STREET MINISTRIES PROVIDES FOOD, CLOTHING, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES AND OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO THOSE IN NEED LIVING IN THE SAN ANGELO AREA. OVERALL, IN 2024 RUST STREET MINISTRIES.... * HELPED 8,246 HOUSEHOLDS AND 20,485 FAMILY MEMBERS. * DISTRIBUTED 236,334 POUNDS OF FOOD, 43,830 POUNDS OF FOOD DONATED BY THE FOOD BANK; 10,242 BED, BATH AND PERSONAL ITEMS; 184,932 ITEMS OF CLOTHING; 3,958 KITCHEN ITEMS; 488 FURNITURE ITEMS; 294 APPPLIANCES, 156 YOUTH BEDS AND $39,773 WORTH OF PURCHASED FOOD. CLOSET ON WHEELS (COW) IS A 30 FOOT TRAILER, MOBILE UNIT EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING, BATH ROOM, SHOWER AND CLOTHES RACKS. THE COW IS TAKEN TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, CHILDREN'S FAIRS AND SIMILAR EVENTS WHERE IT IS USED TO GIVE AWAY CLOTHES. RUST STREET MINISTRIES HELPED 519 FAMILIES WITH 1,564 POUNDS OF FOOD, 11 BUS PASSES, 2,725 ITEMS OF CLOTHING, AND 243 BACKPACKS THROUGH ITS COW MINISTRY. ALSO, THE COW HAS BEEN TAKEN TO STAGING CENTERS FOR FIRE FIGHTERS AT LARGE RANGE FIRES TO PROVIDE THEM A COOL PLACE TO REST AND SHOWER AND TO PROVIDE CLOTHES FOR THEM.THROUGH THE BICYCLES PROGRAM, RUST STREET MINISTRIES REPAIRS DONATED BICYCLES AND IN TURN GAVE AWAY 108 REPAIRED BICYCLES TO THOSE IN NEED. ARMS OF HOPE IS A SECTION 501(C)(3) NOT-FOR-PROFIT CHRISTIAN CARE ORGANIZATION THAT ASSISTS CHILDREN AND SINGLE-MOTHER FAMILIES IN NEED. RUST STREET MINISTRIES HELPED NEW HOUSEHOLDS AND DONATED 186,360 POUNDS OF CLOTHING . ALCOHOL DRUG ABUSE COUNCIL OF THE CONCHO VALLEY (ADACCV) HAS A 6-8 WEEK PROGRAM WHERE THEY HELP PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN RECENTLY RELEASED FROM JAIL. THE PEOPLE USUALLY LEAVE JAIL WITHOUT ANY CLOTHING EXCEPT WHAT THEY HAVE ON. RUST STREET MINISTRIES PROVIDED 1,513 ITEMS OF CLOTHING AND 593 POUNDS OF FOOD.RUST STREET MINISTRIES PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES FOR THEIR CLIENTS: SAN ANGELO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVED 1,389 ITEMS OF CLOTHING AND 954 POUNDS OF FOOD.SHANNON HOSPITAL RECEIVED 13 ITEMS OF CLOTHING, 1,037 POUNDS OF FOOD AND 33 ITEMS OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER RECEIVED 31 ITEMS OF CLOTHING AND 1,133 POUNDS OF FOOD.THE BREAD TRAILER IS A MOBILE UNIT THAT REACHES OUT TO THOSE IN NEED THROUGH A WEEKLY BREAD DISTRIBUTION. IT IS USED TO DELIVER BREAD TO THE LAKE VIEW RECREATION CENTER EVERY WEDNESDAY. BREAD IS DISTRIBUTED TO THE PUBLIC IN NEED WITHOUT CHARGE. THE BREAD TRAILER WAS NOT ACTIVE IN 2024.
