Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth (THFW) is an 851 licensed bed, Level 1 Trauma Center, and 4th time Magnet-designated regional referral hospital that has served the residents of Tarrant and surrounding counties since 1930. Texas Health Fort Worth has been awarded Joint Commission DSC Certifications for Hip Fracture, Ortho-Trauma, Brain Tumor. Our hospital has received Joint Commission Advanced Certifications in Comprehensive Stroke, Advanced Palliative Care, Advanced Hip and Knee, and Advanced Spine services. THFW was the 1st hospital in the nation to receive Joint Commission certifications in both Neurotrauma and Primary Heart Attack. THFW has an academic affiliation with the Texas Christian University Burnett School of Medicine. In 2021 THFW launched Graduate Medical Education Residency programs for general surgery residents and added an internal medicine residency in 2022. THFW is NICHE Designated, CMS Accredited for Transplants. APTA certified for PT residency, and our hospital has been voted the Best Place to Have a Baby 25 years in a row by North Texas Child. THFW has more than 4,700 employees, plus our medical staff of over 1,400 physicians which helps us to provide quality medical healthcare to everyone regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. Recognizing its mission to the community, our services are provided to both financially and medically indigent patients including those covered by governmental programs Medicare and Medicaid for reimbursement which does not always cover their cost of care b/c quality medical care is essential for everyone. Our hospital's services also include cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, orthopedics, sports medicine, high-risk and routine obstetrics / gynecology, and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, and a 100-bed emergency room. THFW participates in the Faith Community Nursing (FCN) program which provides healthcare screenings, education, and family support to over 50 congregations in the DFW metroplex. THFW is part of a Child Automobile Safety Initiative whose mission strives to educate and raise community awareness about child safety. During the year, THFW had 249,673 patient days, 42,039 discharges, 189,659 outpatient encounters, 155,620 emergency room visits and 3,033 births.
