PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTION: Ballet Afsaneh Art and Culture Society presents performances for audiences of the world arts community featuring traditional dance, music and poetry of the cultures along the historic Silk Road in Central Asia. Traditional classical and folkloric repertoire includes repertory offerings from the countries of Uzbekistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Chinese Turkestan, and northern India. Traditional repertory of the professional ensemble Ballet Afsaneh, is presented in performances, as well as creative original work inspired by cultural heritage, universal themes, and current social issues facing central asian communities. An 8-member core collaborative group of artists, is joined for some performance programs by up to 25 auxiliary performers.

OUTREACH AND EDUCATION: Classes, workshops, and performance presentations are offered in the San Francisco Bay Area to the general public in community settings by AACS through the Afsaneh Dance Academy in Bay Area locations, and online in collaboration with Pomegranate Gardens Dance. Artists who are experts in the fields of dance, music, and culture of Central Asia and other world cultures teach workshops and ongoing classes. Student ensembles perform for community cultural events and educational institutions. Students participating in ongoing classes also have the occasional opportunity to perform with the professional company.

DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC PLANNING Focus on infrastructure stabilization, diversification of earned income sources, and increased public support. Investment in dance education programs to increase community participation, volunteer base, and artistic excellence. Activities accomplished during 2024-2025 included: * Leadership and technical training program for emerging leadership and staff. Subsidized attendance for staff, board and young leadership at dance field conferences and training. * Succession planning component of the organizations 3-year strategic plan moving forward. Emphasis was placed in 2024-2025 FY on the training and mentorship of promising candidates from within the organization to prepare for leadership roles.
