Provide listeners in the greater Bakersfield area with commercial free educational programming which enhances values and mores of the American way of life.03/15/23-As a part of Celebrity Reads day, afternoon host Matt Pelishek joined a 5th grade class at Old River Elementary to read for them. Matt spent time encouraging the kids, letting them know their focus in school was really important, and letting them know they can accomplish big goals. Matt read, shared, and answered questions with the class for about 20 minutes.03-06-23-In light of a high number of traffic accidents in Kern County, we addressed an upcoming opportunity on safe driving offered for free to the community. Afternoon hosts Matt & Aaron discussed Smart Start, a free class being offered by the California Highway Patrol. The class is for prospective teenage drivers and their parents addressing both safe driving habits, and consequences of poor choices. The class is being offered locally on March 14th at 6pm. We spoke about it twice during the afternoon drive.January 30 February 10, 2023-We partnered with Capital Dental Group to collect household items and non-perishable food items for the central coastal area that was hit with severe flooding. These items were then sent to San Luis Obispo for distribution.06/27/23-Kern County has asked its residents to conserve water this week as they work on maintenance for the Lake Isabella dam. The county is preparing for a large amount of snow melt which will cause an influx of water. Afternoon hosts Matt Pelishek and Aaron Perlman informed the audience of both the water conservation request, as well as the reasons and what our county will be facing with the water situation. Also provided were simple water conservation tips.July 1, 2023 Orleys Shoe DriveLocated at Valley Baptist Olive Drive location. We hosted an event called Orleys Shoe Drive, organized by Nicole Vigil. The project is to collect shoes for under privileged children so that they can start school with new shoes. 7/17/23-With temperatures dangerously high today, our afternoon show made sure to give the details on the available cooling centers in our listening area through the entire afternoon when temps were the highest.October 30 November 16, 2023-Bakersfield Pregnancy CenterWe hosted a collection site for Bakersfield Pregnancy Center Baby Shower. We announced on air the event on-air, and collected much needed baby items for Bakersfield Pregnancy Center to distribute at their annual Baby Shower. This is an event for needy parents-to-be and new parents, and mothers in crisis situations. Baby items are given out to as needed. Life FM collected five garbage bin sizes of items
