Court Appointed Special Advocates of Santa Cruz County (CASA) is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of California in 1992. The organization recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who are appointed by the Superior Court to provide a voice for children from age birth to age 21 who have experienced abuse or neglect and are in the foster care system. These volunteers establish a one-on-one relationship with the child and ensure that their emotional, health, well-being and educational needs are met until they are reunited with their families or another permanent, caring home/family is found. In 2024-2025, CASA matched 125 children with a volunteer Advocate who provided support to them in their journey through the dependency/foster system.
