Community Health Improvement Program efforts in 2024/2025 included: The Lompoc Valley Community Healthcare Organization (LVCHO) continued to build on its long legacy of advancing community health access, prevention, and policy-level change, strengthening partnerships, and leading collaborative action across the Lompoc Valley from April 2024 through March 2025. LVCHOs work remains rooted in its mission to ensure equitable access to coordinated health promotion, disease prevention, and quality treatment services for all residents.Strategic Community Engagement and Coalition BuildingLVCHO sustained a robust role as a community convener and catalyst, facilitating partnerships across health, education, public safety, and government sectors. Through the Healthy Lompoc Coalition, comprised of dozens of community agencies, the organization continued to promote collective approaches to address social determinants of health, foster policy changes, and implement community-wide health strategies.Active Transportation and Safety InitiativesDuring the 202425 program year, LVCHO, in partnership with the Lompoc Police Department, Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD), MOVE Santa Barbara County, and other stakeholders, completed activities funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) grant aimed at improving bicycle and pedestrian safety. Educational outreach and community engagement efforts resulted in:-Safety education for 340+ students at multiple local elementary schools;-Distribution of 540+ helmets and visibility gear to students and families;-1,200+ community members engaged through events promoting safe walking and biking;-Development and dissemination of Safe Routes to School maps and safety resources.These efforts directly supported LVCHOs broader Active Transportation Program, which is part of a multi-year initiative funded in collaboration with Caltrans and local partners to promote walking, biking, and physical activity infrastructure.Culturally Competent Health EducationTo strengthen health within the Hispanic/Latino community, LVCHO continued to expand its Cafecito Comunitario initiative a culturally-responsive community engagement series designed to bring residents together in dialogue and education around health challenges. Community Health Communication & OutreachLVCHOs Healthy Happenings Resource Guide and newsletter continued to serve as accessible avenues for health information dissemination, public event promotion, and resource sharing to increase awareness about wellness, prevention, and local health services.Organizational Growth and Capacity BuildingOver the 202425 period, LVCHO strengthened its internal capacity through strategic development and public engagement initiatives. The organization launched its first sustained fundraising campaign and public events to broaden community visibility and financial support for long-term health improvement work.LVCHOs leadership efforts also prioritized expanding its community outreach staffing and inclusive engagement frameworks, with key hires in administrative support, community programs, and advancement roles to better serve diverse populations and strengthen collaborative networks.Historical Partnerships and Continued ImpactBuilding on decades of foundational work, LVCHO remained actively involved in long-standing collaborations such as:-Healthy People Healthy Trails and physical activity promotion;-Route One Farmers Market partnerships to enhance access to healthy food;-Caring Together Santa Barbara County caregiver support network;-Promotion of walkable and bike-friendly community infrastructure;-Policy advocacy through community coalitions to embed health equity in municipal planning and services.Summary of Impact (FY 20242025)In the most recent fiscal year, LVCHO expanded its role as a coordinator, strategist, and advocate for health equity in the Lompoc Valley by:-Leading multi-sector safety and health educational campaigns;-Delivering culturally inclusive community nutrition and wellness events;-Facilitating the dissemination of health resources to thousands of residents;-Strengthening capacity for ongoing collaborative action among community partners.
