Coastal German Shepherd Rescue celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2019! Still going strong, the rescue relies 100% on donations, has no paid employees, and has placed over 4,000 dogs over the years. Coastal provides a safety net for life to the dogs rescued (either through the shelter systems or from individuals who can no longer keep their dog) by writing a contract that requires that an adopted dog be returned to Coastal if the adopter can no longer care for the animal. Coastal will take back a dog no matter the reason or the age, we want our adopters to know that they will never have to relinquish their dog to a shelter. Coastal holds weekly adoption events, typically at a local Petco, in order to provide exposure and education to the general public. Coastal works hard to house their available dogs in foster care where possible but also has a boarding facility that supports the mission of the rescue. We rescue a good number of medical cases that are either found in the shelter system or come from families that are faced with insurmountable medical bills. We fundraise aggressively through a number of channels on a regular basis.
