Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics (RFUHC) was established in 2007 and offers a range of services including behavioral health, podiatric medicine, physical therapy, and reproductive immunology to the local community. In alignment with RFUHC's commitment to community outreach, the Mobile Health Clinic, known as the Community Care Connection (CCC), provided free healthcare services to over 3,000 patients in underserved areas of Lake County, IL, during the year ending June 30, 2024. Services offered included COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, TDAP and flu vaccinations, sports physicals, point-of-care testing, referrals for additional care, health education presentations, and wellness screenings for cardiovascular health, diabetes, cholesterol, and osteoporosis. RFUHC's outreach also encompasses clinical education for students from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Over the past year, the free student-led Interprofessional Community Clinic (ICC), located at RFUHC, served nearly 900 underserved patients, providing a variety of general and specialty care services, such as ophthalmology, dermatology, pelvic health, pain management, behavioral health, pediatrics, and radiology. Approximately 80 percent of patients at both the ICC and CCC identify as belonging to a minority race or ethnicity, primarily Latinx and African American. This makes both programs essential resources in the pursuit of improved health equity in the Lake County region.
