Alaska Forum on the Environment: The Alaska Forum on the Environment is a statewide gathering of environmental professionals from government agencies non-profit and for-profit businesses community leaders Alaskan Youth conservationists biologists and community elders. The event is an educational foundation for all Alaskans and a unique opportunity to interact with others on environmental issues and challenges. AFE 2024 took place in-person and virtually during the week of February 5-9 2024.

Environmental Training Program: The Alaska Forum facilitates environmental worker training for primarily rural Alaskan participants who are under-employed and located in parts of Alaska that are underserved. Through several federal and state grants the Alaska Forum facilitates virtual and in-person environmental and emergency response training needed in rural Alaska. The Alaska Landfill Operator Training program written and provided by the Alaska Forum focuses on training Alaskan Landfill Operators to manage a Class III landfill appropriately.

Green Star Communities Program. The Alaska Forum sponsors the Green Star Communities certification program designed for rural Alaskan communities to assess and improve their waste reduction and energy efficiency programs. The Green Star Communities program supports Alaska communities that want to practice waste reduction energy conservation and pollution prevention. Communities that meet the Green Star Community Standards are recognized for their accomplishments. Sustainable solutions are realized by approaching waste and resource management with an integrated community-focused approach and the Green Star Award provides affirmative public recognition for achievements. The Pollution Prevention Safer Choice initiative in coordination with the Knik Tribe promotes the use of EPA Safer Choice products to rural Alaskan communities and Green Star Communities to reduce house hold and business hazardous waste.
