Addressing Food and Housing Insecurity True Beginnings prioritizes whole-family healing by supporting formerly incarcerated women, their children, and the families who cared for them during incarceration. Unlike traditional assistance programs, we provide two full bags of groceries per household, ensuring families receive complete, nourishing meals rather than just a holiday protein item. 2023 Impact: Served 336 families through rental application assistance, food baskets, holiday giving, trauma support, and housing services. Expanded holiday meal distributions to include two additional giveaways beyond Divinity House and Sheffield House programs. Expenses: $20,000 Two trauma coaches acquired at $5,000 each to support participants and an additional 100 food baskets.

Employment & Reentry Support The Educated Guided Outcomes (EGO) Project is a trauma-responsive, gender-informed employment readiness program designed to increase self-sufficiency and reduce recidivism among formerly incarcerated individuals. 2023 Impact: Served 136 women through employment readiness workshops, self-awareness training, and trauma recovery support. Gained access to Virginia Department of Corrections, expanding in-facility programming to support women preparing for reentry. Expenses: $25,500 (previously $5,500) Due to increased printing and tablet costs, as well as stipends for additional professionals.

Divinity House ? Housing & Stability for Justice-Involved Individuals Housing is a critical component of successful reentry. Through Divinity House and Sheffield House, True Beginnings provided transitional and permanent housing for formerly incarcerated women and men. 2023 Impact: Provided stable housing to 58 women and 33 men across three rental homes. Expanded services to include a men's house and acquired an additional home for women advancing through the program. Expenses: $44,400 (previously $21,600) Due to expanded rental assistance and increased support for housing resources.
