EAGLES MERE HISTORIC VILLAGE INC. IS AN HISTORIC PRESERVATION/EDUCATION ORGANIZATION. IT PRESERVES AND MAINTAINS THE MOST IMPORTANT BUILDINGS IN THE NATIONALLY REGISTERED DOWNTOWN AREA OF EAGLES MERE. THESE CONSIST OF THE OLD GENERAL STORE AND ITS OUTBUILDINGS WHICH CONTAIN STORES AND THE EAGLES MERE MUSEUM, OPERATED BY EAGLES MERE BOROUGH THROUGH ITS MUSEUM COMMISSION. IT ALSO INCLUDES THE EAGLES MERE SWEET SHOP, USED SINCE ABOUT 1900 AS THE CENTRAL RESTAURANT SERVING THE THEN VICTORIAN COMMUNITY. EAGLES MERE HISTORIC VILLAGE INC. PROVIDES SPACE TO THE MUSEUM AT RATES HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED BY EAGLES MERE HISTORIC VILLAGE INC. AND MAINTAINS AND IMPROVES ITS PROPERTIES, WHICH SERVE THE COMMUNITY. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.SINCE THERE ARE NO FARM FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WITHIN 15 MILES OF EAGLES MERE, AND THERE IS A HUGE DEMAND FOR FRESH FOOD IN THE SUMMER MONTHS, WE, ALONG WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, HELPED A LOCAL WOMAN START A SMALL BUSINESS IN TWO OF OUR STORE FRONTS. WE PURCHASED THE EQUIPMENT FOR HER TO USE. SHE IS OPEN YEAR ROUND OPERATING A SMALL CONVENIENCE STORE WHICH EXPANDS TO INCLUDE MORE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
