THE SOCIETY PROVIDES ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE PRACTICE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE, SUPPORT THE ENACTMENT OF JUST AND PROPER LAWS CONCERNING VETERINARY MEDICINE AND THE VETERINARY PROFESSION, AND ACT AS THE PRIMARY ADVOCATE FOR VETERINARY SERVICES ON THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS. THE SOCIETY ALSO PROVIDES SERVICES TO ITS MEMBERS WHICH WILL ASSIST THEM TO IMPROVE THE AVAILABILITY, ACCESSIBILITY AND QUALITY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE SERVICES; TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO VETERINARY MEDICINE FOR ANIMALS WHICH ARE OWNED BY LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS, INCLUDING BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS TO ASSIST THEM WITH THE COST OF NECESSARY VETERINARY MEDICINE FOR THEIR ANIMALS AND SPONSORING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE LOWER-COST MODELS OF PROVIDING VETERINARY MEDICINE; AND TO CONDUCT SUCH OTHER ACTIVITIES AS MAY BE APPROPRIATE AND AS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE NEW YORK NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION LAW FOR NONCHARITABLE CORPORATIONS, AS NOW IN FORCE OR HEREAFTER AMENDED.
