Farms Work Wonders is an umbrella nonprofit social enterprise that creates living classrooms-including our organic farm, market, bakery glass blowing studio, and our restaurant. Through these enterprises, we provide real-life learning experiences and generate income. The nonprofit social enterprise model allows us to address historically negative economic development in appalachia. Unlike traditional businesses that often extracted profits for outside interest, our social enterprise model creates sustainable enterprises that reinvest 100% back into the local community. And, since we are nonprofit, we measure our success by our local impact in three key focus areas: People--Creating educational and economic opportunities, Planet--Protecting our national environment
