The Seattle Black Film Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary. As the longest running Black film festival in the Pacific Northwest, this is our biggest program. 990 people were in attendance with 304 people who attended at a free or reduced price. The film festival screened over 60 films representing the diverse voices of Black filmmakers from all over the world. We host panels, workshops and artist spotlights to dive deeper into the themes presented and explore Black brilliance through multiple mediums.

Theatrical Productions - This year we brought in two new experimental works. Dispersed, Women of Region Six, directed by Olisa Enrico and The Things Around us written and performed by Ahamfule J. Oluo. Dispersed was a culmination of 3 years of workshops that produced a play written by a community of women. The Things Around Us was a one person show that combined music and storytelling to capture the life story of Ahamefule J. Oluo.

General Programs and Series expenses for all our programs as a whole including smaller annual programs such as World Cancer Day and Reel Youth Film Camp. World Cancer Day, in partnership with the Ciera Sisters, is a day-long series of workshops, panels and performances centering women's health. Reel Youth is a week-long workshop with BIPOC youth focused on creating a film production and hands-on learning for all aspects of filmmaking. This year we held two Reel Youth workshops, one in the summer and one in the winter. We continue to expand this program. Move Groove and Explore was a weekly multigenerational series of multiple genres of movement to bring families together in health and wellness for the body. Other programs include Taste of Madaraka dinner series, an outdoor film screening of The WIZ, Het Heru Healing Dance Retreat, Inspired Child/Verbal Oasis Poetry Festival and more.
