SBR OFFERED 12 EDUCATIONAL EVENTS CENTERED AROUND THE 2024 EDUCATIONAL CALENDAR SEMESTER THEMES: CLIMATE ACTION, RECYCLING & WASTE REDUCTION, BIODIVERSITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY STORIES. THESE EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ATTRACTED 650+ ATTENDEES. WE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL NETWORKING AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT EVENTS AND COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS COHORTS TO PROVIDE SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION TO SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. LASTLY, WE HOSTED OUR ANNUAL SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SUMMIT AT THE RICHARDSON HOTEL IN BUFFALO, WHICH BROUGHT IN 189 ATTENDEES AND 96 LOCAL BUSINESSES. WE ALSO UNVEILED A NEW LINE OF PROGRAMMING CALLED SMALL ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS. WE BROUGHT IN 45 INDUSTRY EXPERTS TO SPEAK AT OUR SUMMIT AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, AND INCREASED THE NUMBER OF ORGANIZATIONS THAT WE PARTNERED WITH TO HOST THESE EVENTS IN ORDER TO EXTEND THE REACH OF SBR TO NEW AUDIENCES. OUR RECOGNITION PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SUPPORT AND ELEVATE BUSINESSES THAT MAKE A CONCERTED EFFORT TO INTEGRATE SUSTAINABILITY INTO THEIR OPERATIONS.

THROUGH OUR GRANT WITH THE NYS POLLUTION PREVENTION INSTITUTE, SBR HOSTED 2 IN-PERSON SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOPS FOCUSED SPECIFICALLY ON INTEGRATING CIRCULAR ECONOMY COMPONENTS INTO MICRO AND SMALL BUSINESSES. TO DO THIS, WE COLLABORATED WITH A LOCAL ENTREPRENEURIAL ACCELERATOR OF MINORITY AND WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES (MWBE'S). DUE TO THE SUCCESS OF THESE WORKSHOPS, WE INTEND TO CONTINUE OFFERING THIS PROGRAMMING TO OTHER ACCELERATORS AND AUDIENCES IN THE REGION. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR WORK AS A SUBCONTRACTOR OF THE NYSERDA CLEAN ENERGY HUB IN WNY, WHERE WE COLLABORATE WITH OTHER AREA ORGANIZATIONS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE TRANSITION TO CLEAN ENERGY IN OUR REGION. WE HAVE DEVELOPED PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES FOR THE HUB THAT HAVE HELPED BUSINESSES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES UNDERSTAND HOW THEY CAN BENEFIT FROM CLEAN ENERGY AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF INCENTIVES AVAILABLE TO THEM.
