Brooklyn Heights Community Garden (BHCG) is a nonprofit urban farm and community hub located on 0.56 acres of formerly vacant lots in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. BHCG serves a historically Black and low-income neighborhood that experiences food apartheid by cultivating healthy community through growing food, intergenerational learning, creative play, and neighborhood-based food access. BHCG provides fresh, naturally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs to residents in the surrounding community, including neighbors who are elderly, on fixed incomes, or face barriers to transportation and grocery access. Through its urban farm, fresh foodshare program, youth and family programming, healing and wellness workshops, community ambassador work, volunteer opportunities, and garden education, BHCG works to honor the land, nurture people, inspire love, and strengthen community connection across generations.
