Working alongside indigenous Ethiopian churches, NLE supported 38 missionaries working in 24 rural villages. Along with community development such as food aid and literacy education for children, the missionaries shared the hope of Jesus Christ with 6,080 people. 604 new believers were discipled by the missionaries and found strength and support in one of the 18 churches built among 3 tribal people groups. 3 new churches were constructed, and 460 children were taught to read through literacy classes held in churches. The final year of our 2-year Bible training program had 12 graduates. Two further trainings were given to all missionaries in an oral inductive Bible study method, and 40 children's leaders were instructed in how to establish Children's Clubs in their communities. 61 children received an outstanding kindergarten education and were provided the necessary supports to enter first grade at the government school. The children were given a nutritious daily lunch, a full set of new clothes, and their families were helped with farming, clothing, bedding, and donkey and cart to generate income and to more easily access water. NLE provides full financial resources to operate a care center for abandoned children. The center accommodates up to 20 children with the goal of family permanency through adoption for each child. 15 babies and toddlers were adopted by Ethiopian families.
