OPERATION OF A MEDICAL SCHOOL IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INCORPORATING ADVANCED HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, ACKNOWLEDGING THE IMPORTANCE OF COLLABORATION, AND PROMOTING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION TO DELIVER HEALTH EQUITY. The School of Medicine has waived tuition for the entering classes of 2020-2024 (i.e. first 5 classes). The tuition waiver applies to each class for their four years of enrollment. For the years ended December 31, 2023 and 2022, the total amount of tuition waived was approximately $9.0 million and $6.1 million, respectively. The Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine demonstrated its continued commitment to its mission, vision, and values by admitting a diverse group of students to its fourth cohort (44% underrepresented in medicine, 40% disadvantaged, 32% nontraditional, 26% first-generation). The school waives tuition and fees for all four years of enrollment for its first five cohorts and continues to provide substantial institutional grant aid to offset living expenses (e.g., room and board, transportation).
