Lesser Prairie Chicken Conservation - The NAGP continued the development and expansion of the Lesser Prairie Chicken Landowner Alliance (LPCLA) in the SW United States using a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and significant donations from other private and corporate partners. THE LPCLA is a regional strategy for conserving and restoring grassland habitat necessary for lesser prairie chicken survival. It is an outcome-based approach that pays ranchers fair-market value for the conservations services that they agree to provide to conserve and restore grassland environments. The long-term goal of this project is to establish ten (10) 200,000 acre ranching strongholds in five states. During the first year of the project 100,000 acres were enrolled in the LPCLA.
