AMONG THESE PROJECTS, THE TASK OF IDENTIFYING, FORMING, AND ASSISTING ARTISTS WHO LIVE AND WORK PURPOSEFULLY BY MAKING CONSCIENTIOUS,IMAGINATIVE USE OF THE CULTURAL IMPACT OF THEIR WORK, WILL BE AN ONGOING PRIORITY. CULTIVATING THE CONDITIONS THAT GENERATE ARTISTS AND ART PROFESSIONALS WHO TRANSLATE CONTEMPORARY ISSUES AND IDEAS TO CHALLENGE THE COMPLACENCY OF THE STATUS QUO IN SEARCH OF MORE TRANSCENDENT PRINCIPLES WILL BE THE WATERTABLE TRUST'S HIGHEST AND BEST WORK FOR LOS ANGELES AND OUR CULTURAL MOMENT.
