In 2025,The Old Mutt Hut sold the sanctuary on 21910 Enoch Road, Calhan, Colorado and with those proceeds purchased a sanctuary house for the dogs at 424 North Walnut Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to veterinary care. We needed to escape the ever-present risk of fast-moving wildfires and blizzards! Also during2025 we admitted two senior dogs into the sanctuary and networked (and helped pay medical expenses) 20 senior dogs at risk of euthanasia into new homes. Volunteers donated thousands of hours during 2025 walking and caring for dogs; painting the exterior of the prairie house prior to sale; moving items from the prairie home to the town home avoiding hiring a moving company; and cleaning and painting the new sanctuary house. Volunteers helped conduct one yard sale and two online auctions to raise funds and increase our public profile.
