THE ALLIANCE FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INNOVATION (THE "ALLIANCE"), FORMED IN 2017 BY SERIAL ENTREPRENEUR AND PUBLIC SERVANT STEVE POIZNER, HAS SUCCESSFULLY BROUGHT TOGETHER THE HEFT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S TOP RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS, LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS, AND WORLD-CLASS ADVISORS TO FOCUS ON BRIDGING CRITICAL GAPS IN THE SOCAL ECOSYSTEM. THE GOAL OF THE ALLIANCE IS TO NURTURE AND ACCELERATE THE GROWTH OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S TECHNOLOGY AND LIFE SCIENCES INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM, WHICH IN TURN SHOULD DRAW SIGNIFICANT NEW VENTURE CAPITAL INVESTMENT TO THE REGION. THE ALLIANCE WILL FOCUS ON DEVELOPING AND CONNECTING NODES OF INNOVATION EXCELLENCE WHILE ATTRACTING NEW CAPITAL TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING FINDING, NURTURING, FILTERING, AND MATCHING HIGH POTENTIAL STARTUPS TO LEADING VENTURE INVESTORS. BY WORKING TOGETHER WITH NODE LEADERSHIP, THE ALLIANCE WILL TACKLE MORE REGIONAL ISSUES INCLUDING EXTENDING THE SOCAL INNOVATION BRAND AND GROWING THE BASE OF LOCAL INSTITUTIONAL CAPITAL.
