MARTY'S ORCHID HOUSE SERVES PRESCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WITH AUTISM AND OVERLAPPING HEALTH ISSUES IN JEFFERSON COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THIS POPULATION WAS CHOSEN DUE TO DISPARITIES THAT EXIST IN EQUITABLE ACCESS TO A FULL-TIME PROGRAM THIS IS BOTH AFFORDABLE AND MEETS THE COMPLEX NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN WE SERVE. WE DO BIG THINGS FOR LITTLE PEOPLE EVERY DAY SINCE OPENING DOORS IN OCTOBER, 2018. MARTY'S ORCHID HOUSE, A LICENSED PRESCRIBED PEDIATRIC EXTENDED CARE (PPEC) CENTER, PROVIDES MEDICAL CHILDCARE SERVICES THAT ARE REIMBURSABLE UNDER MEDICAID, WHICH COVERS 100% OF OUR ENROLLED CHILDREN. SERVICES INCLUDE SKILLED NURSING CARE AND CASE MANAGEMENT, OCCUPATIONAL AND SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES, INDIVIDUALIZED SPECIAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM, NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT, AND BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS. PRIOR TO FAMILIES' ENROLLMENT IN OUR PROGRAM, BARRIERS FOR PARENTS IN ACCESSING INDIVIDUAL SERVICES IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS INCLUDED LACK OF TIME OFF FROM WORK AND LACK OF TRANSPORTATION. CURRENTLY EIGHTY PERCENT (80%) OF OUR ENROLLED CHILDREN LIVE IN SINGLE-PARENT HOUSEHOLDS. SEPARATELY, SERVICES REMAIN FRAGMENTED AND POTENTIALLY INACCESSIBLE TO OUR TARGET POPULATION. WE PARTNER WITH ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH IN TREATING A WHOLE CHILD UNDER ONE ROOF AND HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MADE A PROFOUND IMPACT ON THE HEALTH, WELLBEING, AND DEVELOPMENT OF ENROLLED CHILDREN SINCE OPENING DOORS. THROUGH HARD WORK, COORDINATION OF RESOURCES AND THERAPY SERVICES, PARENT EDUCATION AND PARTNERSHIP, AND INTENSE DAILY INTERVENTIONS, OUR "GRADUATES" BECOME READY TO ENTER A TRADITIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM, SOMETIMES AHEAD OF SCHEDULE, ALLOWING SPOTS TO OPEN FOR NEW CHILDREN IN NEED.
