La Mesa has been working with individuals experiencing homelessness or struggling to thrive due to low incomes since 2014. Our work which takes place primarily in Mesa AZ and the surrounding area began as simple meals together but quickly grew into something extraordinary because of the relationships created. The La Mesa Resource Center connects individuals in poverty to housing addiction recovery assistance employment identification cards birth certificates and government benefits. We also provide financial management training classes and assist with expenses related to safe housing move in costs furniture. To date the La Mesa Resource Center has assisted 35 formerly homeless individuals to secure housing or shelter.
