In 2023, Value Unconditional opened the doors to its first Survivor Support Center in Kansas City, providing a centralized hub for its restorative services. This allowed for a 32% increase in hours of 1on1 sessions provided (686 in 2022 to 908 in 2023). VU also increased the number of groups provided by offering 18-weeks of support to nearly 100 women in recovery from substance use disorders. Of the women in the processing groups, 69% had an annual household income of $10,000 or less. Value Unconditional believes the trauma our clients have experienced has cost them enough, so none of the clients who received restorative services from VU in 2023 received an invoice. To help offset the cost of free victim services and create an increasingly sustainable model, VU worked to expand the education program. In 2023, the VU Education program served several organizations and institutions including but not limited to the University of Missouri Kansas City, University of Arkansas School of Law, and several universities throughout the UK and Europe. These trainings are transforming the way communities view and respond to the hurting, the vulnerable and the exploited.
