The Organization accomplished educational outreach. Through interactive, high school and college lessons, we inspired critical thinking and dynamic discussions about the connections between industrial animal agriculture and current key issues impacting us alllike animal welfare, climate change and environmental sustainability, human rights, and personal and public health. Our unique programming was led by educators who are both passionate about this work and trained in leading and facilitating challenging conversations with students who are often learning about these issues for the first time. The Organization also accomplished leadership development. In the Leadership Academy, participants gained the tools to build the foundation for structural change in your institutions and communities. Participants will have the option to apply to continue in the academic-year fellowship, which runs for the fall and spring terms. In the academic-year fellowship, each fellow worked with New Roots Institute and a partner organization towards an individualized campaign to drive change on their campus and in their communities. Fellows received coaching, mentorship, and access to learning and career development opportunities. Alumni received continued support from New Roots Institute, and remained a part of both the Leadership Program and a wider, life-long network of alumni.
