In 2022, CHILA Inc. continued to provide ongoing healthcare for the Q'eqchi Maya patients in the Alta Verapaz region of Guatemala. We have increased our enrollment of patients that attend our Monthly Diabetes Meeting and are treated, monitored, and provided education on the management for diabetes from 40 patients to almost 100 patients. We have been doubling our patient enrollment every year since the Diabetes Clinic inception 3-4 years ago.In June of 2022, CHILA took a group of 25 medical professionals and volunteers for a "JornadaX or mission into Chisec, Guatemala. This is the first time we were able to take a large group into Chisec since the pandemic was delcared in March of 2020. We were able to hold a medical clinic in our town of Chisec and we were also able to provide immediate treatment for acute patient conditions. We also established patients that will require specialty consults, advanced diagnostics, surgical treatment, and initiate case management for chronic conditions which will require prolonged or lifetime medical care.CHILA Inc continues to provide access to high quality primary medical care to the Q'eqchi Maya in the Alta Verapaz town of Chisec and her many remote mountain villages. Our mission is to provide medical care in conjunction with local traditions and beliefs. All healthcare is always provided in their own native Q'eqchi language utilizing trusted translators from the local community. We are mindful of providing and not duplicating services of the local national health care clinic thereby maintaining a respectful and cooperatve relationship with the local government and community.
