RISE Culinary Institute launched its first programming in July 2024 and made a significant impact in its inaugural year. From July through December, RISE provided tuition-free, hands-on culinary education to 20 refugee and immigrant women from diverse countries and backgrounds. Participants gained culinary skills, food-safety training, and workforce preparation designed to support long-term economic stability. RISE also hosted a series of enrichment and community-building events including a Vision Board Workshop, a Mothers Day Networking Luncheon, Career Day, and a vibrant Cultural Day celebration. Through these programs, over 80 women benefited from community connection, mentorship, and confidence-building opportunities. In November, RISE held its inaugural Stories from Afar Graduation Dinner, bringing together more than 200 community members, partners, and supporters to celebrate our graduates, honor their journeys, and showcase the rich cultural diversity they bring to Utahs culinary landscape. In its first six months, RISE built a strong foundation and an expanding ecosystem of supporthelping women gain skills, community, and pathways to meaningful careers.
