Since its launch in January 2018, Freedom Now USA has developed and initiated its Community Network Approach (CN) to combat human trafficking and eradicate slavery in the United States. Topeka, Kansas is the model case for the CN Approach. Freedom Now USA has been successful in uniting state, local and county government to declare war on the networks of human trafficking in Kansas and Topeka/Shawnee County, Kansas. From there the organization launched the Topeka/Shawnee County multi-disciplinary coalition to build our network and understand how the bad network operates in the community. Since the start of the organization we already see markers of success, such as increased community conversatons about human trafficking; organizations worked in silos now working together to increase collaboration and resources; and collaboration between up-stream prevention efforts and down-stream victim services, and implementing the CN Approach in other communities.
