Community Engagement and AdvocacyThe Canal Community Resilience Council (CCRC) launched in November 2019 have regular meetings to discuss issues that Canal residents face with a focus on environmental and climate change, the climate gap and climate justice. The objective of the CCRC is to provide a platform for community driven planning around climate justice and many other issues that directly affect the residents. The CCRC has expanded our geographic footprint beyond the Canal. There are CCRC members in other cities and towns around Marin County that also participate in this project such as Novato, Fairfax, and greater San Rafael (outside of the Canal area.) The CCRC has evolved to support existing and emerging leaders with the skills and resources they need to be stronger advocates and representatives for their community. This has led to the Lifting Leaders Program (with support from MCF Climate Justice Initiative)Impact: Participating community members 60; Core community members 30.Youth & Family ProgramOur programs have been pivotal in transforming the lives of underserved and at-risk youth in our community, particularly those involved in the juvenile justice system. Youth mentorship, particularly for underserved youth within the juvenile justice system, requires a multifaceted approach combining evidence-based practices, tailored interventions, and systemic understanding of culturally appropriate curriculum. We are deeply committed to supporting underserved youth and helping them achieve their full potential. As our program grow, we will continue to address the complex needs of underserved youth, the demand for our services has not slowed down so in order to provide the high-quality programing these youth deserve we must look to expand capacity. Impact: Completed Program is 26 youth; Youth referred to Program 32. TAY Radio Station/Cuerpo Corazon ComunidadCuerpo Corazon Comunidad is dedicated to serving the Latino immigrant community by centering shows on topics that are relevant to them as newcomers. We keep in mind what information is readily available to the newcomer Latino community. Because we understand that many resources is not always easily accessible for newcomers and their families. Our program have covered topics like how to destigmatize mental health challenges, what is digital literacy, ways to access home ownership, and starting your own business. Always being mindful of the importance of creating safe space for our listeners. In addition, our guests are fluent in Spanish and culturally aware making our shows more available to community members and beyond. CCC show is a very well received show and continues to gain new listeners. Overall, the educational and personal experience shared on the CCC show has shown how we can have an impact on communities here in Marin County and beyond.Impact: Cuerpo Corazon Comunidad annual Viewers 2,200.
