FOCUS: PUBLIC SAFETY CAMPAIGN (POLICY & ADVOCACY)DURING OREGON'S 2024 LEGISLATIVE SESSION, IMAGINE BLACK ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN SEVERAL COALITIONS TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PROTECTION OF MEASURE 110, A CRITICAL BALLOT MEASURE THAT RECLASSIFIED THE POSSESSION OF CERTAIN DRUGS AS A CIVIL VIOLATION AND DIRECTED INVESTMENTS TOWARD TREATMENT AND RECOVERY SERVICES FOR DRUG ADDICTION. WHILE WE WERE ULTIMATELY UNABLE TO SECURE THE MEASURE'S PROTECTION, OUR EFFORTS STRENGTHENED RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR SUPPORTERS AND KINFOLK MEMBERS, EXPANDED AWARENESS OF ITS IMPORTANCE, AND DEMONSTRATED OUR CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO ADVANCING EQUITABLE POLICIES FOR OUR COMMUNITIES.

FOCUS: CIVIC POWER CAMPAIGN (KINFOLK MEMBERSHIP)IMAGINE BLACK WORKED WITH OUR KINFOLK MEMBERSHIP TO BUILD AND AMPLIFY THEIR POLITICAL POWER THROUGH ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT IN MEETINGS, RELEVANT TRAININGS, AND PARTICIPATION IN A LOBBY DAY OPPOSING HB 4002. WE HOSTED QUARTERLY KINFOLK MEETINGS, AVERAGING OVER 40 PARTICIPANTS PER SESSION, WHERE MEMBERS WERE EQUIPPED WITH TOOLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO ADVOCATE FOR EQUITABLE POLICIES. THESE EFFORTS STRENGTHENED OUR COLLECTIVE VOICE AND EMPOWERED OUR MEMBERS TO TAKE MEANINGFUL ACTION ON CRITICAL ISSUES IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITIES.

FOCUS: CIVIC POWER CAMPAIGN (PRIMARY ELECTIONS AND GENERAL ELECTIONS)IMAGINE BLACK LAUNCHED A ROBUST CIVIC POWER CAMPAIGN DURING THE PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS, FOCUSED ON DEEPENING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND ADVANCING OUR NO POLICE MONEY IN POLITICS PROJECT. AS PART OF THIS EFFORT, WE SUCCESSFULLY RECRUITED 16 NEW CANDIDATES TO SIGN OUR NO POLICE MONEY IN POLITICS PLEDGE, BRINGING THE TOTAL TO 37 SIGNERS SINCE THE PROJECT'S INCEPTION.
