That group consisted of approximately twenty-one graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the social work programs of the University of Southern Indiana, and six additional volunteers with experience in social work. During the 2020 trip the group's participants performed services for various orphanages, schools, group homes, and health care facilities in Manchester Parish, Jamaica, including (i) performing developmental assessments of residents at a facility for children with severe developmental disabilities, (ii) provided socialization and therapeutic activities to elderly residents at an infirmary, (iii) trained staff at a group home for men with mental disabilities on team building, assertive communication, and anger management, and (iv) engaged in socialization activities with clients with severe mental illness at the group home for men.
